Linlithgow Jazz Club

Home Page

Linlithgow Jazz Club holds monthly music events, normally on the first Saturday of each month. All events are held at Queen Margaret Hall, St Michaels Presbytery, Blackness Rd, Linlithgow EH49 7JA. Membership is not required and we are always happy to welcome new friends!

Established in 1999 the club featured for many years as house band the West End Jazz Band, a 6-piece band playing traditional New Orleans and Dixieland style jazz. In addition to the house band, the club has also hosted performances from musicians from far and wide and from different genres of jazz. Visiting performers over the years have included Roy Williams, Barbara Morrison, Kenny Davern, Tim Kliphus, Enrico Tomasso, Evan Christopher, Janet Seidel, Jeff Barnhardt as well as local performers such as Todd Gordon, Swing 2000, Fat Samís Band and Ken Mathiesonís Classic Jazz Orchestra.

With the West End Jazz Band currently on hiatus, the club is now focusing on promoting different performers monthly, mainly home grown. For a small country, Scotland has an unusually large contingent of excellent jazz musicians so we have a large pool from which to choose! The style of jazz changes monthly so there really is something for everyone; in recent months, our audiences have enjoyed music from Rose Room, Konrad Wiszniewski, the Nova Scotia Jazz Band and Colin Steele. Every 3 months or so, host Ė singer Sue McHugh - will feature her quintet which comprises some of Scotlandís finest musicians. The lineup may change on occasion but the quality will remain the same!

The club provides tea and coffee available throughout the evening (for a small donation), but feel free to bring your own drinks, refreshments (alcoholic or non), glasses and nibbles. We hope you will feel the urge to get up and dance - there is a good dance floor, so bring your dancing feet and come prepared to quickstep, foxtrot, jive or swing or just do your own thing. Or if you prefer just to relax and enjoy some great music our seating with tables is the perfect way to do just that.
